Anyone who lives in Overbrook gains an appreciation for the downtown business district to be found at the heart of the city. On Thursday, June 27th, we were treated to a plethora of Main Street memories from a panel of Overbrook residents, which included Jane Anderson,
Patti Colson,
Charles Fawl,
Dale Fox,
Don Hylton, and
Gayle Warren.

Jessica Frye, Vice President of the Overbrook Historical Society board, served as moderator. She opened the discussion by outlining the theme of the discussion.
"In a small town, Main Street typically represents the heart of the community, serving as the central hub for commerce, social interaction, and local identity," Frye said. "It's often lined with shops, restaurants, and businesses that are vital to the town's economy and social fabric."
"In Overbrook, our Main Street is actually called Maple Street," Frye continued. "It began in 1886 when our town was founded. It has always been the heart of our hometown. Tonight we are joined by a panel of Overbrook citizens who will be sharing their Main Street memories."
The panelists were asked for their favorite Main Street memories. Among the revelations was one shared by Dale Fox, who said Main Street was originally planned to run east and west along what today we know as Market Street rather than the north to south Maple Street that has always served as our Main Street.
The Overbrook Historical Society will be sharing a video recording of the panel discussion on our website soon so that you can hear the lively discussion for yourself.
